Chris Smyth

Territory Manager

Chris is a seasoned law enforcement professional with over 29 years of dedicated service, demonstrating his adaptable skill sets throughout his career. Starting his journey in 1994 with the Austin Police Department, Chris excelled in various critical roles, including patrol, SWAT, general investigations, Internal Affairs, and Homicide investigations. Chris was promoted to Downtown Area Command supervisor serving three years on night shift, working the world famous 6th Street. From there, Chris played a pivotal role in the Learned Skills Unit as a supervisor, overseeing firearms and defensive tactics training for the entire department. He later served as a motorcycle supervisor. Following his exemplary tenure with the Austin Police Department, Chris retired in 2017.

Chris transitioned to the Texas Attorney General’s Office – Law Enforcement Division, where he continued to make significant contributions. In this role, he was entrusted with responsibilities in the Special Investigations Unit and Professional Standards Unit. Here, he specialized in firearms and defensive tactics training, Internal Affairs investigations, and background investigations, reinforcing his multifaceted expertise and unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of law enforcement. Chris‘ leadership and strategic acumen were instrumental in addressing complex challenges and advancing the division’s objectives. Chris‘s dedication and exceptional service led to his promotion to the rank of Captain before his retirement in 2024.
